Any Tree

“Then God gave man this command, ‘You are free to eat of any tree in the garden. But the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat for the day you eat of that you will surely die.’”
Genesis 2:16,17Genesis 2:16,17
English: World English Bible - WEB

16 Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die.”

God gave man everything but one thing to eat. We are permitted so much, everything, but not to sin. Before you know better, christianity sounds like a bunch of “no, no no-s”, but God permits everything but that which would harm us. We are like kids with matches, fascinated with that we should not have.
Paul says somewhere, that everything is permitted but not everything is beneficial.
Sin yields death and brings death into the world. Compared to what we can do, the “can’t do-s” of God are very few.

Don’t know why I don’t like Sundays

Thus heaven and earth were completed in there vast array. On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh day after all the work he had been doing. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after all the work of creating.” Genesis 2:1-3Genesis 2:1-3
English: World English Bible - WEB

2 1 The heavens and the earth were finished, and all their guardians. 2 On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which he had created and made.

I don’t like Sundays. Perhaps it is because Monday is the next day up. I do find the best part being church. Sunday is designed to relax and worship God. Many churches recommend not shopping or working sundays. It is God’s day to rest and for us to rest, and worship. Most buisnesses are open Sunday and many work.

I was just starting the Korean Church and they said I could not work Sundays. Iwas working for my father and this created a conflict, as who was this bosses daughter getting off sundays while the many religious cooks in the back could not. I don’t know what happened to the rest of the workers but I took off sundays. Later I learned many women in the Korean church were nurses and they had to and did work sundays.  On the whole, we should rest and respect sundays.

Very Good

“God saw all he made and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came, the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31Genesis 1:31
English: World English Bible - WEB

31 God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

At the culmination of creation God saw all he made and declared it very good. All nature is very good acorrding to God. This includes us. God created us and states we are very good in his eyes. If we know we are very good to God we must be very good to ourselves and to others. How more true a vision can we have than God’s.

Eden life

“God blessed them and said to them ‘Be fruitful and increase in number fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’ Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground everything that has the breath of life in it I give every green plant for food. And it was so.” Genesis 1:28-30Genesis 1:28-30
English: World English Bible - WEB

28 God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. 30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food.” And it was so.

It appears that both human-kind and animals were vegetarian in the beginning. It is only after the fall that we and animals eat each other. Life in our origional state was different and filled with peace.

In his image

After God progressively made all nature, he made people. “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in out image in our likeness and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air over the livestock over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’”
It is thought that God was in trinity form of the father, son and holy spirit, when he said let Us create man in Our own image. We are not sure, but to be created in God’s image and likeness is to impart on us divine nature and qualities. God is love, forgiveness, grace and kindness and mercy and we reflect these qualities in our best. To be in God’s holy image means we can have the best basis
for self esteem and know ourselves to be of worth.

First things first

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1Genesis 1:1
English: World English Bible - WEB

Genesis 1 1 In the beginning God After “God,” the Hebrew has the two letters “Aleph Tav” as a grammatical marker. created the heavens and the earth.

Believing that makes a subtle shift in thinking. We are either a cosmic accident or planned and created by God. So is everything else, created by God or made by chance. If you are an accident child your outlook is different than purposefully planned by God himself. God must have a predetermined goal for us.
Accepting this one fact gives us great expectations waiting to be disclosed. How lonely and cold to think of oneself and all creation as a mistake almost, and how comforting to feel oneself appointed to earth by a loving God.

Bless Me

Blessing is to ask for supernatural favor. We ask for the limitless greatness only God would imagine or give. We should leave it up to God the what ,where, and how of it. It is trust in God’s provison.
Popular TV preachers say beg for great riches, and that this is OK, God wants you to have it. Jesus had all his needs provided for him but was not wealthy and never seemed to touch money. He said do not worry about such things, as God “clothes the lillys” how much more us. “The Lord’s blessing is our greatest wealth; all our work adds nothing to it.” Proverbs 10:22Proverbs 10:22
English: World English Bible - WEB

22 Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, And he adds no trouble to it.

Richness

“What sorrows await you who are rich, for you have had your happiness now. What sorrows await you who are satisfied and prosperous now, for a time of awful hunger is before you.” Luke 6:24Luke 6:24
English: World English Bible - WEB

24 “But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.

Most people think money brings happiness. Craving endless riches is a trap, and vicious cycle where there is never enough money to satisfy one.
To keep away from the love of money we must realize you can’t take it with you and one day the riches will all be gone; be content with what you have; watch out what you are willing to do to get more money; love people before money, love God and God’s work more than money; and share what you have. Jesus also says to a rich young man, give away al you have and you will have tresures in heaven.

Eat with Sinners

As Jesus was walking down the road he saw Mathew sitting at his tax collection booth and Jesus said to him, “Come, be my disciple.” So Matthew got up and followed him.
Matthew invited Jesus, the disciples, tax collector frends and other notorious sinner friends, to his house to eat. The religous officials asked the disciples “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”
Jesus heard and said “Healthy people do not need a doctor- sick people do.”
Tax collectors then, in Israel, were usually cheats, taking more money than was owed, and supported the Roman authority. The other Jews hated them. They were traitors.
Matthew left a profitable career to follow Jesus. However can you imagine how great Matthew must have felt to be loved or even acknowledged by Jesus when he was hated by everyone else.
My husband invites Friars and Priests over, which is nice. But I prefer the company of the regular folk and sinners who come over. They seem to treasure our company more.
Jesus continued teling the religious leaders, “Now go and lear the meaning of this Scripture, ‘i want you to be merciful: I don’t want your sacrifices.’ For I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough.”

Right Fear

God says fearing God is the beginning of wisdom. If you meet a tiger or lion in the wild you have a natural fear of it. So if you met God you would have an awesome respect and fear for him.
On the other hand we should not fear the Lord as he is first coming to save the world, not judge it. God seaks us to save us.
When God created man and he rebelled, in the garden of eden, he said, “I heard your voice and I hid myself.” It was because he had sinned. Sin is separation from God wih guilt and fear of punishment. We fear sin and death, which are our enemies. Jesus conquered and saved us from both. So we should not be afraid.
